Dr. Williams grew up out in the country, near a small town in Kansas. After graduating from his public high school with a class size of 16, he attended the University of Kansas, where he chose a focus of study of pre-dental, majored in psychology and minored in business. Upon graduation from KU, he married the love of his life, then spent a year dental assisting while applying for dental school. Dr. Williams was accepted into the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, where he was able to achieve his childhood dream of becoming a dentist while growing his passion for the profession and his patients. He started as an associate dentist at Southport Dental upon graduation in 2016, under the outstanding mentorship of Dr. Larry Hemby, who had been providing excellent care to his patients for over 40 years. In 2022, Dr. Williams completed a dental implant fellowship, giving him more knowledge and skill in providing this excellent service to his patients. In June of 2023, Dr. Williams was honored to continue Dr. Hemby's legacy as the owner of Southport Dental and hopes to continue to provide exceptional, personalized care to the Southport community and surrounding areas. On a more personal note, Dr. Williams loves spending time with his best friend and wife, Kristina, their two rambunctious young children, and their two fluffy dogs. He also enjoys spending time at the beach, traveling, SCUBA diving, hiking, golfing and playing guitar. He has loved regaining the small town, family feel of his childhood here at Southport, and he is grateful to be a part of the amazing family at Southport Dental.

Kristina grew up on a hobby farm near a small town in Kansas. She graduated from the University of Kansas where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and became a Registered Nurse, working in maternity units in Kansas and North Carolina. She married the love of her life in 2011 (Dr. Williams), and supported her husband's childhood dream of becoming a dentist. Kristina had full confidence that Dr. Williams would be an amazing dentist, and when she was receiving dental treatment from him during school, they received a flyer from Southport Dental looking for an associate. Upon googling Southport and realizing it was a small town on the coast, she told Dr. Williams this was the location our land-locked Kansas souls were searching for. After falling in love with the area, they made the move, with Kristina starting at New Hanover Regional Medical Center as a labor and delivery nurse, as well as a clinical instructor for Brunswick Community College. When Dr. Williams bought the practice in 2023, he encouraged her to join his team and she has energetically taken on an office manager role and loves seeing the exceptional relationships between the staff and patients. She continues to practice as a labor and delivery nurse on occasional weekends. When Kristina's not at the dental office or the hospital, she is trying to keep her two young children and two crazy dogs out of trouble. You can also find Kristina swimming laps at the pool, racing with Hawk Masters Swimming. She also enjoys dates with her husband, reading a book on the beach, scuba diving, camping, hiking, kayaking, organizing, and planning the next vacation.

Mary has been in dentistry for over 40 years. She started as a dental assistant and added the duties of scheduling, receptionist work, and working with billing and insurance. She is now an office manager, and over the years she has worn many hats. In addition to her main duties, you can find her doing most anything that is needed, from ordering supplies to keeping our computers online and up to date. She enjoys helping patients in all areas, and her goal is to have them leave feeling cared for and happy with their overall dental experience with our practice. She has been married to her wonderful husband, Mike, for over 30 years. They have two sons, Clay and Braeden, two wonderful daughters-in-law, Stephanie and Kayla, and three wonderful grandchildren. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Rhonda is the friendly voice and always smiling face you'll be greeted with at the front desk of our office. She is a 2004 graduate of surgical technology, specializing in oral surgery. She was a surgical first assistant for cleft palate, facial trauma and orthognatic teams. She also has a background in insurance and billing/coding. She is an outstanding team player and graciously will jump in to help wherever she's needed in the office.

Madison is a graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College and has been a member of our team since 2020. She loves the family-like environment of this practice and how everyone knows each other. She also likes how this office reminds her of her hometown. She believes it means a lot that people have been coming to this office for their dental appointments their entire lives. Madison is a native of Buckhead, a small community in Columbus County. She is married to the love of her life, Ty. She is very family-oriented and enjoys spending time with them. She also enjoys going to church.

Laura is our newest team member, starting in 2023, however she has quickly become an essential member of our team. She strives for perfection, and you will receive a thorough cleaning when seated in her chair. Laura received her dental hygiene associate degree from Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, earning the "Golden Scaler" Dental Hygiene award, a dental creativity award, as well as earning an award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Dental Hygiene. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from N.C. State. Laura is thrilled to be part of the Southport Dental team. She is proud to work in an office that prioritizes the patient first, and quality oral health care is of the utmost importance. Helping the community care for their oral health and as a result, improving their overall systemic health is very rewarding for her. Laura is originally from the East End of Long Island, New York but now calls Oak Island home. Laura loves swimming in the ocean and spending time with her husband and two boys at the beach. Her hobbies include fishing, photography, and creating fused glass art.

Michele has been in the dental field for over 30 years. She first worked front desk answering phones and scheduling appointments. After two years of administrative duties, she decided to learn the clinical side of dentistry. Michele graduated from the Rowan Cabarrus Community College dental assisting program in 1994. Shortly after, she received her certification in dental assisting after passing the Dental Assisting National Board Exam (DANB). Michele enjoys enthusiastically educating her patients about dental procedures and oral hygiene. She does her absolute best in helping her patients improve their dental knowledge and to provide them with an enjoyable experience at our office! Michele joined our practice in 2021 after moving to Southport from Wake Forest, North Carolina. Michele and her husband of 30 years love to walk on the beach and enjoy sunsets! Her daughter goes to college in Raleigh studying dental hygiene. In Michele’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, biking, listening to music and watching comedy shows for a good laugh. Michele enjoys sharing laughter throughout our practice!

Amber joined our practice in July 2021. She graduated from Wilkes Community College in 2017 and received her associate degree in dental assisting (DA II). Amber previously worked in pediatric dentistry for four years before jumping into general dentistry, and has loved the diversity of taking care of the whole family, from children to great-grandparents. She brings her cheerful attitude and delightful optimism to our team.  Her favorite part of this practice is how it feels like family, with her team members, as well as all of the amazing patients that come through our doors. Amber is originally from Harmony, NC. She is a newlywed, marrying her husband, Will, in 2022, and gained a handsome young stepson named Conner. She has two wonderful dogs, Emmi Lou and Diesel. In her free time, Amber loves going to the beach, spending time with family and friends, baking, cooking and making jewelry.
